feng shui for the home (and for realtors)

  • Ring the doorbell as you enter a house. The metal sound clears the air. Ringing chimes and bells as you walk through will also help. The metallic sounds will clear the air and raise the qi, making the house more inviting.
  • Open curtains in all rooms except the bedrooms, keep those closed until you walk in with the client, then open the curtains. The bedroom is best shown as a peaceful, restful place. Showing it first with the curtains pulled will accomplish this. The client gets to see the bedroom in a "night" view and in the brightness of day.
  • Make sure the air filter is clean and place an air freshener in the main vent. Tea Tree Oil is good for cleansing air in a room, this can be soaked onto a cotton ball and placed in a vent.
  • Clear the front yard and the front rooms of any clutter. Having a mess in the bedroom is easier to overlook than the one at the front door. First impressions do count.
  • If possible, leave a radio playing on a classical music station. The music is good for the qi in the room and it sounds nice when you walk in.
